Cutaneous Cooling Devices
During laser treatments it may be desirable to limit injury to only certain
aspects of the skin. Other than choosing appropriate wavelength and pulse
duration, the option of adjunctive cooling while lasing has been used with a
method for enhancing selective injury. This method is now used for vascular
lesions, hair removal, and collagen restructuring. The Cool Laser Optic devices
you will see elsewhere on this web-site may be used with any cosmetic lasers
in the visible or near-infra-red range, and are ideally suited to meet clinical
requirements for enhancing selective injury.
Proven Technology.
Simultaneous and continuous cooling during laser treatment reduces collateral
thermal injury while maintaining selective injury of the targeted tissue. Cool
Laser Optics technology was developed by a laser dermatologist, and is used by
major laser manufacturers. It is FDA cleared for marketing.
Proven Effective.
Cool Laser Optics products allow you to use the higher laser energies often
needed for effective treatment of a variety of conditions, while at the same
time maintaining patient comfort. The results are irrefutable.
Proven Economical.
If you presently use cosmetic lasers, this cooling system is by far the most
cost-effective way to expand their applications. If you are contemplating purchasing
a cosmetic system, consider the economic advantages of acquiring stand-alone cooling.
Product Descriptions:

Included in the Cool Kit are the Recirculating Chiller, Slim Pack™ and Cool Wand™, along with a 12' hose assembly, carrying case and extra connectors. |
| CLO® Slim Pack™ - Lightweight, durable and easy to use, the Slim Pack is superb for cooling large areas prior to, during, and after treatment. This device provides excellent visualization of the target, while its large (4"x2") cooling footprint increases treatment efficiency. The Slim Pack is used with the CustomChill Recirculating Solid State Chiller. |
 |
| CLO® Cool Wand™ - Flexible and maneuverable, the Cool Wand is ideal for small, hard to get at targets. This easy to use device is the perfect complement to the Slim Pack™. The Cool Wand™ is used with the CustomChill Recirculating Solid State Chiller. |
 |
| CustomChill Recirculating Solid State Chiller - Reliability and precise temperature control in a small, lightweight and environmentally friendly package. When coupled with either a Slim Pack™ or Cool Wand™, this efficient, solid state chiller takes you where you need to go for effective skin cooling. Uses only distilled water to achieve the desired cooling effect.

* Usual focal distance for handpiece is 5/8 inch
** Usual focal distance for handpiece is 1 1/4 inches
*** Use 10mm Spot for Fluences of 20 J/cm2 or less; use 7mm Spot for fluences > 20Jcm2
**** Begin w/10ms; however, 5 and 20 may be options; double pulsing is suggested for most vessels
# The pulsed mode (0.2 - 0.5 Seconds/Pulse) is appropriate to begin treatment. As the operator becomes facile with the slow, steady movement of the laser handpiece over the outer surfaces of the devices, the use of the continuous beam setting is appropriate. The spot size should be approximately the same diameter as the targeted lesion.
(N.B. When employing an Argon Pumped Tunable Dye Laser, since spot size increases with increased distance between the distal end of the laser handpiece and the target, and since CLO® Devices cause that distance to be double the distance relative to the standard use of this laser, the spot size delivered to the skin surface during treatment will be approximately double the spot size normally delivered by the laser.)
